Good evening Pine Hill and South Bay,
Today, the District met with the South Bay Teachers’ Association and the decision was made to postpone the start of the school year for both students and staff by one week.
The first day of instruction for students will be August 31, 2020.
It goes without saying that our 2020-21 back-to-school efforts are very different, and unlike anything educators have ever had to prepare for. The extra week of preparation will be used to organize the best possible distance learning instruction for our students – they deserve it! While the physical location of where our student will receive live daily instruction from their teachers may change, our goal will remain the same – to meet the learning needs of each and every student we are fortunate enough to teach.
I give you my word that as educators, the South Bay Union Elementary School District will do everything within our control to meet this difficult moment by keeping learning a priority regardless of the instructional model.
As always, please feel free to reach out to me at your convenience at either
gstorts@southbayusd.org or 707-267-9174.
Thank you in advance for your flexibility and adaptability during these challenging times. We will get through this together.
My Very Best,
Gary Storts
