6th grade families, this is your final reminder that applications for 7th grade South Bay 2021-22 are due this FRI. 1/15 by 3:15pm. Applications received after that time/date will be put into the 2nd lottery and will automatically be on the waitlist. The lottery for 7th grade admittance will be on Wed. 1/20 and families will be notified on Thurs. 1/21 if they have been placed into the 7th grade class or on the waitlist. Thank you

Hello SBUSD Families! We getting ready for some students to return back to campus next Tuesday. We are returning to our Hybrid Schedule, with some kids on campus and some kids remaining in distance learning. The schedule remains the same as before the Thanksgiving Break. Hello 6th grade families. This is a reminder that your applications for our SB Charters School for 7/8th grade is due by 3:30pm on Fri. Jan. 15th. Applications were mailed out in Dec. If you need an application please stop by the office or give us a call. If you are choosing Winship or Zane be sure to contact ECS for registration.

Tomorrow if Friday and the last day of school for 2020! Please come by the office to pick up library books, musical instruments, school pictures and Shark Shack items from 8-3:15 tomorrow. We will also have weekly food distribution from 11-1pm.

If you ordered school photos from Lifetouch they have arrived in the school office. They are available for pick up between 7:30 and 3:15 Mon-Fri.

Today is pick up day! 5 day food distribution is available for pick up between 11am-1pm. at South Bay. If you have Sharkshack items, EL packets, library book orders, art packets or packets from your SB teachers that is also ready for pick up today. See you soon.

Interdistrict Transfer forms are going out in the mail today. If you have a student attending Pine Hill or South Bay in TK-5th grade and live in another school district you will receive this form to complete and return to PH or SB before Jan. 29th. Please complete ASAP so we can have you attend school with us for the 21-22 school year!

Greetings South Bay District Families. The school board’s decision to go back to distance learning after the Thanksgiving break has generated a lot of questions, so we’d like to clarify expectations and answer questions many of you have. Trimester 2 will begin on Nov. 30th after the Thanksgiving break. Morning and afternoon cohorts will continue as planned, but will all be distance learning. If your student was going to move cohorts, they will continue to move to their new cohort as planned. If you have any questions about which cohort your student is in please contact either the Pine Hill (443-4596) or South Bay (443-4828) offices. All students will be required to quarantine for the first two weeks after Thanksgiving Break. On the third week after Thanksgiving break, the week before winter break, our SDC, speech, and other students that receive specialized services on site could be allowed back on campus, provided that they pass the Qualtrics screening. Site principals will be working closely with service providers to schedule opportunities for on campus supports for those students. Teachers are currently working on rolling out a new online learning platform called Edmentum. This program will provide students a more individualized learning experience that will be based on their STAR Reading and STAR Math assessments, helping to fill gaps in their learning and push them to excel academically. Curriculum distribution will remain on Mondays for Pine Hill and Fridays for South Bay. Your student’s teacher will let you know if there is a packet waiting for your student. Food distribution can be picked up at South Bay School on Fridays from 11-1pm for any and all students within the district. This will be a five day food distribution with breakfast and lunch for each child. The Afterschool program will continue in a distance learning model via Zoom, with support for homework help and online activities to help students maintain their social connections with peers. Pine Hill Explore will be from 3:00-4:00 and South Bay will be from 3:15-4:15. We know this time is difficult for all families and we appreciate the support of your students and the school. Together we can help one another stay safe and connected. The Family Resource Center is available to all families in the district. The Qualtrics health screening has been up and running for a few weeks now, and we appreciate all of you that have been completing it daily! Beginning on Mon. 11/9 if a student has NOT completed the daily Qualtrics screening they will NOT be allowed on campus. The daily screening is sent to your student's email daily with an option for texts to be sent to any cell number you choose. Please complete this screening daily!
